Methodology

BRAVA is a women's football outlet in Spanish and English. This page explains where every figure we publish comes from and how we show it.

What we cover

Standings, results, fixtures and where to watch for Champions League (Europe), Liga F (Spain), NWSL (United States), WSL (England), Liga MX Femenil (Mexico), Copa Libertadores Femenina (South America), plus women's national team matches: Women's international friendly, Women's World Cup, Women's World Cup qualifying (UEFA), Women's World Cup play-off, Women's Nations League, Women's Euro, Copa América Femenina, Concacaf W Championship, Concacaf W Gold Cup, AFC Women's Asian Cup, Women's Africa Cup of Nations, Women's Olympic football, Women's Finalissima.

Where the data comes from

  • Standings, fixtures, results, goals, cards, substitutions, stats and line-ups: ESPN public data.
  • Copa Libertadores Femenina: ESPN does not cover it. Fixtures, kick-off times, results and goals come from the tournament's Wikipedia article, which its editors source from CONMEBOL; we only take registered teams and matches with a full date and time. Group tables are computed from those results.
  • US broadcasts: reported by ESPN match by match.
  • National team squads: the list ESPN publishes for each competition, with appearances and goals in it. For friendlies ESPN only lists the players used during the year, and we say so.
  • Each national team's honours, World Cup appearances, coach and FIFA ranking: entered by our editors, with the date they were last checked.
  • 2027 World Cup: dates, venues, format and the qualified-teams list are entered by our editors from FIFA and reliable outlets, showing when they were last checked. Groups, fixtures and kick-off times come from ESPN and appear on their own once ESPN publishes them after the draw.
  • Player profiles: date of birth, position, height and country come from Wikidata (open data) and are checked by our editors, who write the biography and set the club. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons with their author and licence, or are our own. Each profile shows when it was last checked.
  • Broadcasts elsewhere: a table maintained by our editors that shows when it was last checked. When nothing is confirmed we say so: a wrong channel is worse than none.
  • Table zones (qualification, relegation) are set by our editors at the start of each season.

How often it updates

Pages regenerate on their own: the home page every 5 minutes; standings, schedule, match pages and where-to-watch every 30 minutes; a live match is checked every minute. Once a day an automated job refreshes every table and the calendar.

Kick-off times

Every time is shown in the reader's time zone: the country picked in the schedule or, if none, the device's. Without JavaScript, times are Buenos Aires (Argentina) time. Where-to-watch pages also list the day and time in Mexico (Mexico City), Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, USA (Eastern), USA (Pacific): an evening match in the Americas can be early next morning in Spain.

Automated reports

Some match reports and previews are written automatically. The facts (teams, score, standings, points, form and next match) come from the data; a language model only turns them into prose. Before saving, a validator checks that every number in the text exists in the data and rejects minutes, scorers, quotes or percentages that are not there. If a report fails, it is not published.

Each one says so under the byline. Until an editor reviews it, it is not offered to search engines: you can read it on the site, but it does not appear in Google.

Those reports are credited to the BRAVA newsroom ("Redacción BRAVA") and link to the match page at the bottom.

Images

When a story uses a stock photo (Pexels, free to use) we label it as illustrative, with the photographer's credit: it is not a photo of the match. Graphics with crests and scores are generated by the site from the data.
