Argentina seek revenge against Brazil in Recife after the 3-1 in Porto Alegre
Germán Portanova's side close their double-header against Brazil tonight at Arena Pernambuco, one of the 2027 World Cup venues. The hosts welcome back Arthur Elias and three suspended players.

Argentina's women's national team get another shot tonight at the hosts of the next World Cup. After losing 3-1 on Saturday in Porto Alegre, Germán Portanova's side face Brazil again this Tuesday, 13 October, at 8:30 p.m. (same time in Argentina and Brasília) at Arena Pernambuco in São Lourenço da Mata, in the Recife metropolitan area. It is the second friendly between the two teams in this October FIFA window.
What Porto Alegre left behind
At the Beira-Rio, Brazil settled the game in the first half. Luany opened the scoring in the 26th minute, Geyse doubled the lead in the 38th with a bicycle kick and Angelina made it 3-0 before the break. Argentina responded after the interval: Maricel Pereyra pulled one back early in the second half and the team had chances to get closer.
Portanova admitted his side struggled in the first half but valued the experience of facing a powerhouse: "It's incredible to play this kind of match, it makes all of us better," the coach said, as reported by El Femenino.
Brazil's team news
Brazil welcome back key figures. Arthur Elias returns to the bench after serving a suspension, and defender Tarciane and forwards Kerolin and Bia Zaneratto, who missed the game in Porto Alegre for the same reason, are available again.
On the other hand, Brazil will be without Angelina, who scored on Saturday, and Bruninha: both were released from the squad after the first match. The Brazilian press expects changes to the starting XI to give minutes to players who featured little or not at all at the Beira-Rio. The squad arrived in Recife on Sunday and held its only training session at the stadium on Monday night.
A dress rehearsal at a World Cup venue
The match has an extra twist: Arena Pernambuco is one of the venues for the 2027 World Cup, which Brazil will host from 24 June to 25 July. Argentina have already secured their place at that tournament, qualifying directly as runners-up in the CONMEBOL Nations League behind Colombia. That is why every minute against Brazil helps Portanova settle on names and patterns against the continent's powerhouse.
On the other side, Elias is also using this window as a testing ground, still trying out options with an eye on a World Cup his team will play at home.
